Working to Increase Access to Services Click here for a copy of our pamphlet
A western style of health care and the predominance of non-Indigenous health professionals have largely worked against effective health care for Aboriginal people. Nunkuwarrin Yunti is, therefore, committed to providing culturally appropriate health care and community support services, and to influencing and overcoming barriers which exist for Aboriginal people in accessing and utilising mainstream services. We are working in partnership with a number of organisations to increase access for Aboriginal people to a broader range of services including: Adelaide University for dental health care and graduate experience.
Royal Australian College of General Practitioners to provide cultural and clinical training for General Practitioner Registrars.
Aboriginal Housing Unit to establish cross-referral systems for coordinated care.
Adelaide Central Community Health Service to improve and provide dental services, co-ordinate substance treatment, and improve access to counselling and mental health care.
Adelaide Central Mission and the Centre of Personal Education Inc. to enhance personal growth.
Forensic Health Services to provide a service to Aboriginal people in custody.
Royal District Nursing Service to gain access to a continence specialist, diabetes educator, palliative care services, post acute care, care for the disabled, and HIV/AIDS care.
Lutheran Archives; Births, Deaths and Marriages; SA Museum; State Library; State Records; and Adoptions and Family Information Services to improve access to records.
